Everyone listed here has a working website and a published way to reach them, checked in September 2026. Where a business publishes prices we have quoted them; where they do not, we say so rather than guess. Nobody has paid to be here and we take no commission — this is simply who we would ring.

Celebrants
You cannot marry legally in New Zealand without one. Book the celebrant before the venue — the good ones go first, and a celebrant can usually tell you whether your idea is possible before you have paid anyone a deposit.

Flowers
The useful thing to know about this market: nobody down here imposes a wedding minimum spend, and the Wānaka florists have turned the two-person order into an off-the-shelf product because of the helicopter proposal trade. You can buy a bouquet and a buttonhole online for a fixed price without a single email.

One timing catch. The two cheapest options are both Wānaka-based and reach Queenstown next-day, not same-day. For a Queenstown morning ceremony that means flowers arriving the day before — fine, as long as somebody has a fridge. If you need them the same morning, use The Flower Room.
Gowns and suits — hire, not buy
If you are flying in, hiring beats packing. A wedding dress does not travel well and a suit takes a bag you would rather use for boots. Queenstown has a proper hire market and it is set up for people who arrive days, not months, in advance.
Nemo Bridal & Omen Suit Hire — 3 Gray Street, Frankton
Two brands, one business, one address, two minutes from the airport. Nemo does gowns; Omen does menswear. They also do alterations, steaming, warm kit and on-the-day dressing, which makes them the only place in the district that can dress both halves of a couple from a single visit. Reserve the garment before you fly. Fit it when you land. They genuinely do arrival-week fittings — but only for something already being held for you. Hire gowns are one-offs and the rack clusters around NZ 10–12. Choosing is a months-ahead job; fitting is a 48-hour job. Grooms have it easier: Omen’s documented process is a measurement chart and an $80 deposit sent from home, then a fitting on arrival.
They are open weekdays. Monday to Friday, roughly 9 or 10 until 5. Saturday is by appointment only, Sunday closed. If you land Friday afternoon for a Saturday wedding you have about an hour of trading time — so confirm your slot before you book flights, not after.
Ring to confirm any price. Their own website disagrees with itself on suits, furs, warm kits and steaming. The figures above are what is published; the phone is what is true.

The question to ask any artist here is not whether they are good. It is whether they will start at four in the morning. A sunrise ceremony on a mountain means a chair in the dark, and plenty of artists will not do it.

Questions people actually ask
In what order should I book all this?
Celebrant first. They are the only supplier you legally cannot do without, the good ones book out furthest ahead, and an experienced local celebrant will tell you whether your plan is realistic before you have spent anything.
Then the venue or location, then hair and make-up, then gown and suit hire, then flowers and cake — those last two need the least lead time and are the easiest to change.
One exception: if a helicopter is involved, book the charter early and build everything else around it. See our helicopter landing guide.
We arrive two days before. Is that enough?
For most things, yes — if you have booked ahead. Queenstown is well practised at this. Suit hire is designed for it: you send measurements from home, pay a deposit, and fit on arrival. Flowers need 48 hours. Steaming a travelled dress takes an afternoon.
What two days is not enough for: choosing a hire gown from a rack of one-offs, any alteration beyond an emergency, and anything made to measure, which needs the better part of a year.
The one to watch is opening hours. Most of these businesses are weekday operations. A Friday-afternoon arrival before a Saturday wedding leaves you almost no trading time, and that catches out more couples than anything else on this page.
Do we need a marriage licence, and how long does it take?
Yes. You apply to the Registrar of Marriages, and the licence takes at least three working days to issue. It is valid for three months and it is valid anywhere in New Zealand, so you can apply before you know exactly which mountain you want.
There is no residency requirement and no waiting period for overseas couples, which is a large part of why New Zealand is easy to elope in. Your celebrant will walk you through it — it is one of the things you are paying them for.
What should all this cost, roughly?
For two people, using the published figures on this page: celebrant $500–1,000, flowers $320–385, hair and make-up $500–1,000, dress hire $650, suit hire $299. A helicopter with one landing starts around $2,500.
That is the supplier side only — it does not include your photographer, your accommodation, or a meal afterwards.
Is this list paid for?
No. Nobody on this page has paid to be here and we take no commission on anything. It is a working list, checked in September 2026, of people whose websites load and whose phones are published.
That is a lower bar than it sounds. A surprising number of suppliers in this district have no reachable contact details at all, and those have been left off rather than listed with a shrug.
