How a camera became a calling
I came to New Zealand from the Philippines in 2012 and picked up a camera two years later. I’ve been photographing weddings since 2015 — for most of that time around a full-time job, shooting on weekends, learning the gear and learning the light. In 2024 I left the job and went all in.
The turning point wasn’t technical. It was when I stopped shooting to build a portfolio and started shooting to serve the couple in front of me. That shift is what led to New Zealand Wedding Photographer of the Year at the 2023 NZIPP Iris Awards.
Today I photograph weddings across Auckland and Aotearoa, and I travel for couples who ask. My work is documentary at heart — real moments, honest storytelling — finished with the care of fine art. Guided by my faith and my family, my goal is simple: use the talent I’ve been given to serve you, and leave you with images you’ll still love in thirty years.
And I’m not just a photographer — I’m a videographer too. Our films are built on storytelling: we document your day genuinely, then craft it like a movie — cinematic, luxurious, and true to how it actually felt — so watching it feels like living it again.
Most weekends you’ll find me photographing weddings across Auckland — from the Town Hall and city rooftops to vineyard estates in Kumeu, Waiheke Island and the black-sand west coast — with regular trips to Queenstown, Wanaka and Hobbiton for elopements and destination weddings.

The story behind SuperGibo
So why “SuperGibo”?
It started with my love for superheroes and my passion for photography. Whenever I travelled I’d snap photos and share them under the hashtag #supergiboadventure to show off whatever superhero-related thing I’d found. Over time I realised SuperGibo wasn’t just a fun hashtag — it captured my personality and my style.
So why not make it the business too? I hesitated at first, wondering whether people would take me seriously with a name like SuperGibo. But the more confident I got in capturing fun, genuine moments for people, the more I knew it was the right call.
SuperGibo Photography isn’t your average photo service. It’s about an experience that ties in my love for adventure — I want couples to feel like they’re living in a superhero movie when they work with me.
Is this your full-time work?
Yes. I photographed weddings alongside a full-time job from 2015, and in 2024 I left that job to do this properly. Weddings are the whole thing now — which means your day gets my full attention, not what’s left of a working week.
When did you move to New Zealand?
I was born in the Philippines and came over in 2012. I knew almost as soon as I landed that I’d love it — the place, and more than that the people. These days I’m a Kiwi-noy: half New Zealander, half Filipino. It’s a pretty good deal.
How did you start shooting weddings?
I bought a camera in 2014 to photograph the places I was travelling to. Landscapes first — chasing sunsets and stars — then street photography, then church events, family gatherings and portraits of my friends. Then some of those friends asked me to photograph their wedding. That was it. I’d found the thing.
What do you like outside photography?
Coffee, non-negotiable. Basketball. Anything with height — climbing, cliff jumping, bungee, skydiving, roller coasters. Hiking, which I used to hate and now love, mostly because of who I go with. Singing, badly. Marvel films. Ginger beer and L&P.
