Wedding Venue Guides

After 10 years and hundreds of weddings across Aotearoa, we know the venues in our guides like our own backyard — the best light, the best corners, the timing that makes your photos sing. Seven guides live — more coming each season.

Still choosing your venue?

Ask us — we’ve shot at most of them and we’ll tell you honestly which fit your vision.

Every venue, sorted by where it is

Around 90 venues across Auckland, the Waikato and the lower South Island, grouped by region so you can shortlist by drive time. The linked guides are the ones we have written in full — the rest are here so you can see the whole field in one place.

Every venue name below links straight to that venue’s own website — opens in a new tab, so you keep your place here. Where we have a guide for the region, the “Read the guide” link goes to our own write-up.

Wanaka

Quieter than Queenstown, and the lake does most of the work.

Booked somewhere that is not on this list? Tell us where and we will tell you honestly whether we know it — and if we do not, we will scout it before your day.

Before you shortlist

The decisions behind the venue

The region guides tell you what’s out there. These tell you how to choose between them — and what to ask before you sign anything.

How to choose

Pick the venue for
the light, not the brochure

After hundreds of Auckland weddings we judge venues on the things brochures never mention: where the light falls at your ceremony time, whether there is a decent wet-weather room, how far portraits are from the reception, and what the sun is doing when speeches start. These guides collect that knowledge — venue by venue, region by region — from someone who has actually photographed in them.

Each guide covers ceremony and reception spaces, the best portrait spots on the property and nearby, seasonal light notes, and honest practicalities like guest logistics and backup plans.

Use them well

Already booked
your venue?

Perfect — then the guides tell you what your day can look like there, and we can plan your timeline around the venue’s best light. If you are still deciding, shortlist from the guides above, and feel free to ask us which venue suits your season and guest count: we answer honestly, because we photograph in all of them either way.

Once the venue is set, see Services & Pricing for coverage that fits it.
